Belden Howard Clark

March 21, 1928 ~ October 27, 2018 (age 90)

Belden Howard Clark, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, in Demopolis, Alabama. 

 

He was born on March 21, 1928 in Colby, Kansas, to Belden and Jean Clark. Howard worked hard to help support his mother and siblings after his father's death.  He joined the army in 1946 and served until 1951  On June 20, 1950, he married the love of his life and bride of 68 years, Joyce Mae Hill. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, where Howard worked at Rycom Industries for 40 years. Howard and Joyce  made a life for themselves and their four children in the Ruskin Heights area of Kansas City, where they worshiped and played an active role in Ruskin Heights Baptist Church.  If you knew Howard, you knew that he loved God, Joyce, their children, and baseball. Most of the time in that order.  He had a passion for baseball until his death.  He played it, coached it, taught it,watched it,  attended Royals' games, collected memorabilia, and talked baseball all of the time.  His passion for the game was not lost on his children, family, and friends.  In 2016, Howard and Joyce moved to Camden, Alabama, and then to Sonrise Assisted Living in Demopolis in June, 2018. 

 

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Belden and Jean Clark, his daughter,Carolyn Jeanne Clark Allen, and his daughter-in-law, Barbara Kissinger Clark.

 

Howard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce, two sons, Bill of Kansas City and Bob [Lois] of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one daughter, Elaine [Lynn] of Camden, Alabama; 7 grandchildren, Kelly [Mark], Chris, Kim [Shawne], Bo [Kristi], Brett, Holly [Josh], and Justin [Tarah]; 11 great-grandchilden and 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Velma Knierim, Norva Phillips [Dale], and Fay Hogarth, and 1 brother, Jim Clark (Rena); and many nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of his life will be held at Canton Bend United Methodist Church in Canton Bend, Alabama on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  An additional service will be held at Blue Springs Church of the Nazarene in Blue Springs, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, with a visitation period at 10:30 am, followed by a service at 11 am and burial at Blue Springs Cemetery.
