Lawrence Lamar Furr (PawPaw), age 88, of Ramer, Alabama, died peacefully Thursday, December 31, 2020, at his home. Born October 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Barney and Celia (Cannon) Furr.
Lamar worked many years as a dairy farmer for Hall Brothers Dairy in Snowdoun, AL, and Henry Dairy Farm in Pintlala, AL. He also worked for the Sylvest Plant in Letohatchee, AL. and worked honeybees with lifelong friend, Mr. Joe Berry. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by six children; Mary Sue Miller, Linda (Michael) Motes, Willie (Amanda) Furr, Keith (Donna) Furr, Deborah Furr, and Jason (Katie) Furr, 20 grandchildren, Clyde (Valla) Furr, Emily (Matt) Hester, Pepper Jernigan, Mary (Steven) Baxley, Roy Jernigan, Justin Jernigan, Brittany (David) Stephens, Christopher (Katie) Ragland, Jud Sutley, Evan (Kayla) Furr, Kyle Furr, Kelsey (Leman) Summerlin, Zach (Samantha) Price, Cage Furr, Maggie Furr, Molly Furr, Madelyn Furr, Shelby Furr, Kyle Harris, and Devin Harris, 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and four siblings, J.W. Furr, Douglas (Teresa) Furr, Howard Furr, and Faye McCarthy; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Furr; four siblings, Jimmy Furr, Loula Mae Burgans, Jewel Burgans, and Francis Burgans; and one grandson, Ryan Furr.
Graveside services for Lamar Furr will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Vernledge Cemetery, 4710 Montgomery Hwy (US 331), Luverne, AL. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Ragland, Jud Sutley, Alex Benbow, Evan Furr, Kyle Furr, Zach Price, Clyde Furr, and Roy Jernigan. Honorary pallbearers will be Ti Furr and Cage Furr.
